Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Supply Quality Engineer to work at our customers site on a contract basis. Supply Quality Engineers (SQE) work within the Performance and Improvement Function in the business and are responsible for conducting product and documentation verification and final product release to our customers from the Manufacturing Business Units and the external supply chain. This vacancy is for both internal manufacturing facilities and external supply chain and may include significant amount of travel (mostly domestic) and potentially overnight stay requests of up to 4-5 days a week. You will work with our Design Authority, Manufacturing Engineers, Supply Chain Planners, and Buyers to ensure that all aspects of manufacture meet the requirements of the product definition and purchase order. The SQE will also experience significant interaction with our customers during the execution of this role.

As an SQE, you will operate as the Independent Acceptance Authority ensuring contractual, customer and regulatory requirements are satisfied. This includes (but not limited to):

  • To operate as an Independent Acceptance Authority for all products and services supplied.
  • To perform surveillance on material; both during manufacture and upon completion.
  • To identify and act where manufacturing facilities and/or suppliers do not meet contractual, customer & regulatory requirements by implementing non-conformance processes.
  • To be the Quality representative at pre-contract reviews to ensure that purchase order requirements are fully understood by all stakeholders.
  • To plan surveillance based on risk and previous experience of the material and supply chain performance.
  • To identify and escalate suppliers who do not meet quality expectations by generating and monitoring supplier ‘right first time’ data.
  • To contribute to improvement activities by coaching people with their understanding of the requirements.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline will be preferred or ONC, HNC with significant quality experience.
  • Experience of the Nuclear Industry is preferred.
  • Experience of working with Submarines processes, products and documentation is preferred but knowledge and experience working with a variety of manufacturing processes will be considered.
  • Understanding of Nuclear Standards and Specifications.
  • Experience of ISO9001, root cause investigation would be advantageous.
