Job Description

We are currently seeking a Principal Project Manager (EPC Contracts) to join our embedded delivery team supporting projects. This role forms part of the integrated Construction Delivery function, operating within the Site Construction Directorate and working directly with a Principal Contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate construction delivery across allocated areas.
  • Act as the construction lead within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), reporting into a Construction Lead accountable for delivery.
  • Oversee site activities including Construction Management, logistics, planning, safety, and quality performance.
  • Ensure compliance with project procedures, regulatory requirements, and Principal Contractor duties.
  • Provide leadership and line management for Construction Delivery Managers (CDMs), supporting their development and competency.
  • Conduct safety and assurance inspections, ensuring alignment with Assystem’s safety tools and processes.
  • Chair and contribute to daily/weekly delivery planning meetings (e.g. PLOWs), ensuring short-term work coordination supports long-term objectives.
  • Drive site-wide integration of construction sequencing, recovery planning and resource strategy across your area.
  • Represent the construction function in key forums and support consistent reporting to the client.

Profile and Experience Required

  • Substantial experience delivering complex infrastructure or nuclear projects within regulated environments.
  • Demonstrable understanding of NEC contracts and large-scale programme delivery constraints.
  • Skilled in leadership, coordination, reporting, and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary environments.
  • Sound commercial awareness, especially regarding construction delivery and contract interface.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to generate clear and concise reports.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH or SMSTS certification.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and obtain necessary site security clearances.
