Job Descriptionð Your Future Team: Assystem is a prominent player in the nuclear decommissioning sector, working across the NDA and Defence estate and providing waste management services to strategic nuclear clients in the UK.
Our services include life extension and feasibility assessment.ð Your Missions: Provide Assystem and our customers with authoritative waste management and characterization advice.
Prepare and review waste and characterisation documentation in support of decommissioning projects, including:ð Characterisation Status Reportsð Facility & Waste Characterisation Plansð Facility & Project Waste Management Plansð Waste Inventory Managementð Technical Reports and Presentationsð§ Your Responsibilities:ð Provide key waste and characterisation input to bidsð Articulate durations and costs for planned workð Champion waste-informed decommissioning and sustainable waste managementð Lead Best Available Technique and Optioneering studiesð Be a primary contact between Assystem and our customers, potentially being seconded to customers' organizations or working on-siteðð« Provide training and coaching to staff and contractorsð1⁄4 Ensure value to the business through effective resource management and implementation of BATð Possess a good working knowledge of the Data Quality Objectives (DQO) method of characterisationð Lead small teams when requiredð Sample plansð BAT (Best Available Techniques)ð WMPs (Waste Management Plans)ð Working knowledge of transport of dangerous goods and waste consignmentsQualificationsEngineering Degree: A degree in nuclear engineering or a related field is typically required. Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of nuclear science, radioactive materials, and waste management principles. Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions. Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for collaborating with other professionals and stakeholders.
