Job Description

Ventilation Engineer – Technical Specialist Support

Provide expert engineering support and investigative expertise for Sellafield’s Ventilation Technical Specialist Group. Maintain high standards of safety, performance, reliability, and documentation across critical ventilation systems while staying calm, decisive, and effective under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical support for new & existing ventilation systems
  • Carry out ventilation asset condition & system health inspections
  • Support ventilation & HEPA filter commissioning across site
  • Ensure systems are compliant, fit for purpose & meet current standards
  • Collaborate with Plant & Reliability Engineers to optimise assets
  • Follow company standards, safety rules & procedures
  • Provide a professional, customer-focused service
  • Maintain safety through ongoing training & compliance

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

  • Engineering or maintenance qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working at height & in confined spaces
  • SC Security Clearance (or ability to obtain)
  • Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status — or working towards it
  • Experience coaching & developing others

Essential Skills

  • Strong background in mechanical/ventilation engineering
  • Experience providing technical support & investigative expertise for industrial or nuclear ventilation systems
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) experience for internal & external stakeholders
  • Skilled in inspections, system performance checks & improving equipment reliability
  • Confident producing reports & using standard IT/software packages

Desirable Skills

  • Ventilation flow measurement & test equipment experience
  • Ventilation commissioning & proportional balancing knowledge
  • Safe working experience at height & in confined spaces
  • LEV Testing & Reporting (P601)
  • CSA Training (Level A, B or C)
