Your mission

Assystem is growing fast — and our stress and structural integrity capability is growing with it. We are looking for a Senior/Principal Stress Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a technical and capability leadership role, helping to strengthen, grow and develop our UK stress engineering community. This is a hybrid role: you will deliver high‐value technical work for clients while also shaping the direction, tools, talent and strategy of our stress capability.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead complex stress and structural integrity assessments using FEA and hand calculations
  • Review and approve technical work, representing Assystem confidently with clients
  • Mentor and develop engineers, building future stress specialists
  • Drive capability growth — training, methods, best practices, recruitment and retention
  • Support bids and business development, working closely with Engineering Directors and Sales
  • Collaborate across multi‐disciplinary teams in the nuclear and defence sectors

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

  • To lead, build and guide a community of highly skilled stress engineers
  • Strong background in stress analysis / structural integrity
  • Experience in the nuclear or similar highly regulated sector
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working toward it
  • Ability to develop and implement technical strategy and capability development
