Role Overview

This hybrid role is suited to candidates within commuting distance of Bridgwater or those willing to relocate with support provided. You will act as the valve engineering specialist supporting safety‑classified nuclear plant systems. The role spans design review, construction support, commissioning activities and technical acceptance.

Responsibilities

  • Review valve‑related design changes, concessions and technical queries
  • Provide technical oversight across valve design, installation and testing
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality and regulatory requirements
  • Assess supplier documentation, specifications and engineering justifications
  • Coordinate technical interfaces with contractors, designers and manufacturers
  • Support resolution of complex valve engineering and operational issues
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs
  • Support commissioning activities and validation of valve performance requirements
  • Contribute to technical risk management and lessons learned initiatives
  • Support configuration control and acceptance of engineering modifications

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with valve qualification, testing and commissioning programmes
  • Background within nuclear, power generation or highly regulated industries
  • Knowledge of valve standards, pressure equipment regulations and engineering codes
  • Experience reviewing technical specifications and supplier documentation
  • Understanding of quality assurance and configuration management processes
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and engineering decision‑making abilities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Strong technical reporting and communication capabilities
  • Chartered Engineer status or professional registration progress desirable
