Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a dynamic, self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer to work at our customer's site in Derby on a contract basis. The Manufacturing Engineer is to support Product tooling & fixtures supporting the manufacture and delivery of the Plants.

Key responsibilities
- Product Safety - Ensure that tooling & fixtures are capable of achieving and sustaining the product design intent, and that procedures and processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate and resolve safety related issues.
- Quality - Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, GS3001 and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.
- Technical Authority - Ensure application of the tooling & fixture process controls within their area of accountability, with authorisation subject to appropriate delegation.
- Requirements - Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved tooling & fixtures to allow manufacturing processes, digital systems and technologies to meet current or future requirements. Including the creation of Statement of Requirement (SoRs) for manufacture of tools & fixtures for the external supply chain.
- Planning - Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.
- Develop Capability - Design, introduce, validate and continuously optimise tooling & fixtures associated with both product manufacture and delivery to customer. Apply Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) principles enabling the optimal work content to be achieved during manufacture and/or across methods of manufacture whilst continuing to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of tooling & fixtures.
Qualifications
- Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HNC/Foundation Degree or other national equivalent)
- Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng)
- General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business
- General awareness of Manufacturing Systems and enabling software tools relevant to the business
- Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role
- Experience in NX and tooling/fixture design is highly desirable.
- Project management experience working in a manufacturing environment, dealing with multiple customers/suppliers simultaneously, with excellent Written and Oral communication skills
Key Technical Skills
- Authoring Tooling Design Specifications
- Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Proficient and Experienced in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Safety Awareness, both conventional and Nuclear safety
- Understanding and interpretation of customer requirements
