Job DescriptionMechanical Engineer | Defence InfrastructureJoin a high-profile infrastructure programme delivering complex engineering solutions within a secure and highly regulated environment.
You'll play a key role in managing mechanical engineering activities, supporting design development, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery from concept through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities across major infrastructure projects.ð Review and approve engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation.ð¡ Support optioneering studies and development of innovative engineering solutions.ð Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and key stakeholders.ð¡ Support safety case development, hazard identification and risk management activities.ð Produce and review technical reports, assessments and engineering documentation.ð Provide technical assurance of contractor methods, risk assessments and work packages.ð Oversee construction, installation and deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design requirements.ð Support commissioning and decommissioning activities, ensuring operational readiness.
Drive compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Quality standards.ð Contribute to technical guidance, knowledge sharing and professional development initiatives. Qualificationsð What We're Looking For: Essential Mechanical engineering experience on complex projects.ð Experience working in safety-critical or high-hazard environments.ð Design assurance, technical review and governance experience.ð Knowledge of the full engineering lifecycle, from design to commissioning.ð Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.ð§ Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Desirableð¡ Experience within Defence, nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
Knowledge of HAZID, HAZOP and safety case processes.ð Understanding of relevant engineering standards and regulations.ð Experience supporting major infrastructure projects.ð Qualificationsð Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.ð Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
