Acceptance & Commissioning Manager in Glasgow

About the role:

• Lead the planning and management of acceptance & commissioning strategies.
• Work with the Programme Commissioning Manager and the Readiness & Acceptance Planner to develop strategies, set performance statements and ensure a timely transition from design to operational use.
• Coordinate with design teams, contractors and stakeholders to embed commissioning requirements throughout design and construction, and manage the acceptance & commissioning team as the programme matures.

Key Responsibilities – Acceptance & Commissioning:

• Proactively develop and lead Acceptance & Commissioning strategies aligned to programme objectives, governance, Asset and Safety Management arrangements.
• Ensure commissioning considerations are embedded across all delivery and governance activities.
• Work with design and engineering teams to influence early design, preventing future operational and commissioning issues.
• Review design drawings, specifications and schedules to ensure systems are testable, maintainable and compliant.
• Research, author and manage technical documentation supporting acceptance and commissioning activities.
• Act as the primary interface between the customer, engineering teams and commissioning stakeholders.
• Chair acceptance & commissioning meetings and workshops to drive alignment and delivery.
• Support the Programme Hold Point Control strategy and associated documentation.
• Contribute to integrated programme schedules, including commissioning milestones and deliverables.
• Identify RAIDO items relating to acceptance and commissioning and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support procurement activities by advising on commissioning‑related technical requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and line management to Commissioning Engineers.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years’ technical experience, including proven experience as a Commissioning Manager.
• Experience in a nuclear‑regulated environment, with detailed knowledge of commissioning requirements, risk management, and quality assurance.
• Ability to interpret and produce technical documentation (drawings, reports, plans, specifications, etc.).
• Confident communicator in both written and face‑to‑face settings; able to work autonomously or within a team.
• Experience with, or thorough knowledge of, Defence Lines of Development (DLoDs).
• Organised and deadline‑driven, ensuring team deliverables are monitored and achieved.

• Chartership with a relevant professional engineering body.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and operating procedures.
• Understanding of engineering lifecycle based on CICWP.

Additional Information:

• Staff or umbrella contractor.
• Hybrid role with 3 days per week in the Client’s office.

Security clearance:

Applicants will be required to meet residency criteria to attain a minimum UK security clearance of SC if not already cleared.
