Job Mission

  • This strategic leadership role centres on delivering major engineering programmes across the nuclear lifecycle.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project bids across SMR, AMR and Fusion energy.
  • Be a technical authority across FMN’s high-profile programmes.
  • Lead strategic engineering bids and multi-disciplinary project delivery.
  • Manage capability development across engineering and technical disciplines.
  • Drive governance, quality compliance and SQEP competence.
  • Represent Assystem in joint ventures and integrated client teams.
  • Shape pursuit strategies and oversee programme delivery outcomes.
  • Build trusted client relationships and influence senior decision-makers.
  • Contribute to the FMN 2030 strategic growth plan.
  • Support project compliance with CDM, GDA and QMS requirements.

Qualifications Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven engineering leadership in nuclear, energy, or defence sectors.
  • Strong understanding of fusion and modular nuclear markets.
  • Track record in engineering project and stakeholder management.
  • Familiarity with UK regulatory frameworks (e.g. CDM, GDA).
  • Ability to lead teams in complex, regulated environments.
  • Degree-qualified in engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experienced in performance management and people development.
  • Comfortable working in consortia and JV settings.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP).
  • Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and risk/change control.
  • Fusion and novel tech delivery exposure.
  • Major bid or pursuit leadership experience.
