We are recruiting a skilled EC&I Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of Defence work packages. You will work across the full engineering lifecycle — from shaping early requirements and system concepts through to detailed design and technical assurance.
Responsibilities- Apply systematic engineering approaches to ensure designs are safe, fit for purpose, compliant with requirements, and delivered within agreed cost and schedule.
- Shape EC&I and control system concepts from early requirements through to detailed design.
- Translate operational and stakeholder needs into practical, robust and compliant architectures.
- Define system-level EC&I and control requirements through structured requirements capture.
- Prepare specifications, design schemes, engineering calculations and substantiation to support designs and safety cases.
- Produce engineering deliverables including Block Cable Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, I/O schedules, Cable Schedules and Termination drawings.
- Demonstrate understanding of relevant legislation and standards, including BS 7671 Wiring/Installation Regulations and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams across a range of Defence project types.
- Communicate effectively with engineering colleagues and stakeholders.
- A degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering, or HNC/HND with significant relevant experience.
- Membership of (or working towards membership of) a relevant professional institution such as the IET or IMC.
- Strong understanding of EC&I engineering fundamentals and control system architecture development.
- Good working knowledge of CAD tools used in EC&I design.
- Experience working within a detailed design environment.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and high-quality engineering documentation.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.
- This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
- Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
