Job DescriptionAs a Principal EC&I Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering some of our most exciting and complex projects. You'll provide technical leadership across Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) disciplines, supporting a diverse portfolio of high-impact programmes.ð Key Responsibilitiesð1 Technical Leadershipð§ Lead EC&I engineering delivery for complex systems and projectsð Act as Lead Engineer on large-scale projects and support project planningð Chair design reviews and lead technical discussionsð Prepare and present technical reports and presentationsð1 Project Delivery & Governance Ensure compliance with standards such as BS7671, IEC 61508, CDM Regulations & Machinery Directiveð¡ Prioritise and enforce Health, Safety & Environmental requirementsð Support project cost, schedule, and quality deliveryð Contribute to tenders, including technical and risk assessmentsð1 Team Leadership & Developmentð Lead, mentor, and supervise engineering teamsð Set objectives, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedbackð Support collaboration across disciplines and stakeholdersð Guide and develop junior engineersð1 Client & Stakeholder Engagementð Act as the technical interface between clients and internal teamsð Support design reviews and resolve technical queriesð Represent the business in technical communicationsð1 Continuous Improvementð Drive process improvements and efficiency initiativesð Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practicesð§ Contribute to QMS procedures and complianceQualificationsEssential Requirementsð QualificationsDegree in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or HNC/HND with significant experience)ð Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)ð Membership with the IET (or working toward Chartered status)ð Experience 10+ years in EC&I engineering within regulated industriesð Strong expertise across EC&I disciplines, with specialism in at least two areasð Experience across full project lifecycle phasesð Knowledge of control systems design (V-cycle, verification & validation)ð Experience with configuration and documentation managementð Proven collaboration with project management teams Desirable Skillsð Experience in nuclear or high-hazard industriesð¡ Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems & functional safety standardsð Familiarity with ONR Licence Conditionsð Experience with BIM-enabled projects Electrical design, calculations & EMC assessment knowledgeð» Software, hardware, or embedded control systems experienceð Understanding of HAZOP, HAZID, FMECA processesð Experience with obsolescence managementAdditional InformationDue to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
