Job Description:
- Lead & Deliver: Guide EC&I engineering teams in delivering innovative solutions for complex projects.
- Creation and updating: The working ETAP model for the project.
- Protection of: Reports and arc flash risk assessments.
- Power and protection specialism: Support to the wider design team. Contribute to the updating of Sellafield’s engineering standards and best practice.
- Plan & Prioritize: Shape project plans, prioritising Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
- Design Reviews: Act as Lead Engineer, overseeing design reviews, technical discussions, and formal evaluations.
- Support & Collaborate: Provide expert advice, supporting both staff and clients through technical challenges.
- Mentor & Motivate: Mentor team members, set objectives, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Optimize: Ensure projects stay on budget and aligned with schedules, working closely with Project Managers.
- Client Liaison: Serve as the primary technical contact, coordinating with clients throughout each project.
Qualifications Required Experience:
- Working knowledge of BS EN 60909 Fault Calculations
- Working knowledge of power distribution modelling software
- Experience with Protection and control systems (11kV & 400V)
- Experience of 11kV & 400V substation design
- Experience of unit protection calculations (differential & high‑impedance schemes)
- Relevant design experience relating to Electrical infrastructure upgrades and working with ageing assets.
- Working knowledge of the Sellafield Distribution Network and its electrical safety practices
- Experience of Sellafield Design Processes
- Experience with other CAD tools namely Trimble, ERACs and Digsilent
- Experience with IEC61850 and power system SCADAs
- Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with the relevant discipline.
Qualifications required:
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (generally Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering) or HNC / HND with substantial relevant professional experience.
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (generally Electrical, Instrumentation or Control Engineering at Honours level or higher).
Additional Information:
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non‑ITAR country.
