Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work at our customer's site in Warrington on a contract basis. The Design Engineer is responsible for the creation of component/assembly designs and associated through life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes, i.e. life, cost availability and safety margins.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- To understand Product system / sub-system requirements and derive Component requirements at task level.
- To produce robust design solutions which are insensitive to variation to address specified requirements.
- To collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
- To search for, capture, store, and re-use knowledge relating to design activity.
- To understand and apply the commodity standards and to create new standards where none exist.
- To liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to actively integrate the experience and knowledge from these areas.
- To check own and others design solutions and technical for completeness and correctness.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
- Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
- An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
- Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification.
- Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards.
- Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance/refit activities and dealing with operational issues.
- Experience of Research and development, analytical and test verification activities.
- Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes.
