Overview

As a Technical Lead in Assystem's Defence practice, you will steer the technical delivery of complex projects and mentor multidisciplinary teams.

You will shape engineering solutions for high-stakes environments, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

You’ll work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to define scope, approaches and risk management, driving technical excellence.

This role offers the opportunity to influence Defence projects at scale within a regulated, safety-first culture.

You’ll be at the forefront of delivering novel engineering outcomes that support critical infrastructure programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to engineering delivery teams
  • Lead technical direction, solution development and project delivery within the account
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure project success
  • Ensure engineers understand requirements, methods and processes
  • Lead Change Control activities across projects
  • Own technical quality and ensure deliverables meet contracts and client requirements
  • Act as primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Report technical status, progress, risks and performance
  • Ensure compliance with technical, quality and regulatory standards (QMS) and SQEP
  • Support business growth through technical proposals, presentations and solutions
  • Build and maintain client relationships to identify new opportunities
  • Lead technical aspects of bids and tenders, defining scope, methodologies and estimates
  • Key requirements
  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards
  • 2+ years managing and delivering engineering projects with multidisciplinary teams
  • Systems Engineering approach with Requirements Capture, Validation, Verification
  • Experience across infrastructure project lifecycle from Concept to Installation
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-team collaboration
  • Experience in Nuclear and/or Defence industry
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations, Machinery Directive, and PED
  • Experience with QMS and BMS
  • Experience with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts is advantageous
