Job Description
This is a hybrid role requiring regular presence near Bridgwater, with flexibility considered for suitably located candidates. This position supports the Contract Engineering Lead on technical delivery of major mechanical equipment contracts. The role ensures supplier compliance across scope, schedule, cost and technical standards. It also coordinates interfaces and configuration control throughout contract execution.
- Support technical oversight of mechanical equipment contracts
- Review supplier documents against contractual technical referentials
- Produce structured comment sheets and lead technical clarifications
- Manage modifications, open points and scope gaps
- Coordinate configuration control including CTS and design modifications
- Oversee equipment manufacturing progress against site need dates
- Lead contract technical, manufacturing and progress meetings
- Support resolution of technical issues and non-conformities
- Manage multi-discipline interfaces including piping and electrical
- Coordinate surveillance activities and contract documentation control
Qualifications
Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us. We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience designing boilers, turbines, pumps or tanks
- Knowledge of nuclear mechanical equipment lifecycle
- Understanding of equipment interfaces and system integration
- Experience in contract management and document surveillance
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Ability to manage deadlines and contractual commitments
- Strong stakeholder and supplier coordination experience
- Experience tracking risks, early warnings and variations
