The Job Mission
- The role is primarily focused on mechanical engineering, working closely with other disciplines and multiple on-site stakeholders, including contractors (main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction, Quality, Project Management, and Design teams (both on site and in the JDO back office).
- Manage queries, non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests raised by the MEH Contractor.
- Ensure nuclear safety and environmental regulatory requirements are met.
- Provide technical assessments and support to the integrated project team on contractor queries.
- Perform nuclear safety and environmental categorisation of technical queries.
- Challenge engineering decisions to ensure design solutions align with overall project strategy.
- Coordinate technical support from external organisations when required.
- Support the resolution and closure of open technical points.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks.
- Maintain strong working relationships with EDF EPR Engineering (Responsible Designer).
- Report operationally to the Engineering Lead.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Quality assurance/control experience on major construction/installation projects
- Understanding of pressure systems and piping/welded steelwork
- Familiarity with RCC-M, BS EN, ASME codes and QA/QC documentation
- Strong site-based experience with fabrication/installation inspections
- Proficient in writing accurate, concise site reports and diaries
- Broad engineering construction industry knowledge across materials and methods
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Appreciation of NDT methods and safety documentation
- Experience in system design, mechanical design, installation and/or commissioning.
- Knowledge of reinforcement cage fabrication or structural steel interfaces
- Familiarity with bilingual site communication (French a plus)
- Prior experience on nuclear or large-scale infrastructure projects
