Job Description

This role supports major nuclear programmes and is ideally suited to candidates within commuting distance of Bridgwater or those willing to relocate with relocation support available. You will lead commissioning activities for critical radioactive waste systems across a major nuclear project. The role combines commissioning delivery, technical leadership and stakeholder engagement throughout project lifecycle phases.

  • Develop commissioning documentation supporting testing and system validation activities
  • Manage full commissioning lifecycle for multiple radioactive waste systems
  • Review plant designs to optimise commissioning and operational readiness
  • Lead commissioning test programmes and analyse commissioning results
  • Supervise contractor commissioning personnel during on-site activities
  • Produce reports demonstrating system readiness and commissioning outcomes
  • Collaborate with designers, contractors and operational stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements
  • Support commissioning planning, milestones and project delivery objectives
  • Maintain safe and effective interfaces throughout commissioning activities

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND in Mechanical, Nuclear, Process or Power Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems within industrial environments
  • Experience commissioning large industrial or power generation systems
  • Nuclear sector experience, particularly Nuclear Island systems preferred
  • Experience developing commissioning procedures and test documentation
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety requirements and regulatory compliance
  • Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies and system validation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Strong planning, coordination and organisational skills
  • Fluent English communication skills, written and verbal
