Assystem is an international engineering and digital services group, ranked in the top three nuclear engineering companies in the world. In the UK, we’re accelerating the energy transition through landmark projects like Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and emerging SMR programmes. Our 8000 Switchers combine engineering excellence with cutting-edge digital tools to deliver complex infrastructure that powers a cleaner, more secure energy future.

This is a hybrid role, open to candidates within commuting distance of Bridgwater or those willing to relocate, with support available to assist the move. You will support the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC branch on a major nuclear new build project. The role focuses on translating design intent into effective site delivery through strong technical and project coordination.

  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives and implement practical site-based engineering solutions
  • Maintain and control site configuration through key delivery phases
  • Validate and refine reference configuration using latest approved project deliverables
  • Manage engagement with digital tools and IT systems supporting project data
  • Resolve MEH issues following equipment manufacture, fabrication, and site delivery
  • Address mechanical to civil interface challenges, including tolerance management
  • Define and implement Standard Field Solutions aligned with civil engineering approaches
  • Deliver replication activities, including planning and site implementation
  • Build effective working relationships across engineering, project, and technical teams

Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us. We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in regulated industrial or infrastructure environments
  • Strong project management and technical coordination capability
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design and procurement activities
  • Understanding of design processes and contract management principles
  • Awareness of commercial considerations on major projects
  • Background in large-scale mechanical, electrical, or civil plant projects
  • Proven ability managing internal and external stakeholders effectively

This is a unique opportunity to be part of the UK’s most exciting nuclear project, with exposure to cutting-edge commissioning work. You’ll join a supportive team environment where growth and upskilling are encouraged—preparing you for future opportunities in SMRs and beyond.

Benefits include:

  • Hybrid Working Opportunity
  • Flexible working hours
  • Pension scheme (8% company contribution / 4% personal contribution)
  • 25 days’ paid annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy or sell days
  • Professional fees reimbursed
