This Piping & Welding Engineer role sits within the Review & Acceptance Branch at Hinkley Point C. You will also engage in embedded steelwork review as part of the transition from civil to fit-out activities.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Respond to site contractor queries on piping systems, supports, and welded connections
  • Review non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests with technical rigour
  • Ensure piping design complies with nuclear safety and environmental requirements
  • Coordinate with Responsible Designers and on-site technical experts as needed
  • Review interface issues between piping layouts and embedded steelwork (e.g., Pools, Tanks, Liners)
  • Support welding-related assessments and pipework fabrication queries
  • Evaluate and close open technical points impacting installation and commissioning
  • Transition into fit-out scope as civil works complete, supporting mechanical and electrical systems

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in piping systems design, layout, and installation
  • Strong understanding of welded piping joints and fabrication standards
  • Familiarity with ASME/EN piping and welding codes
  • Knowledge of steelwork interfaces in industrial environments
  • Familiarity with pipe supports and pressure system compliance
  • Ability to resolve technical issues across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Confident working with contractors, design offices, and site personnel

Desired Skills:

  • Nuclear project experience, preferably new build
  • Working knowledge of H&S and Nuclear Site Licence requirements
  • Understanding of civil-to-mechanical transitions during construction
  • Experience working in large-scale, highly regulated projects
