Assystem is one of the world’s leading engineering organisations, delivering major low carbon infrastructure across the UK and internationally. With almost 8000 specialists, we support flagship programmes such as Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and the next-generation Small Modular Reactors. Our teams work at the heart of complex construction delivery, engineering assurance and large scale project execution.
The UK is entering the Golden Age of Nuclear, and early-career engineers have a unique chance to shape it. Experience gained at Hinkley Point C becomes a direct pathway into future programmes like Sizewell C, SMRs, fusion and advanced reactor projects. If you’re early in your career and currently working in construction, utilities, heavy industry, energy, water, defence or similar, your skills transfer naturally into nuclear. You’ll gain exposure you simply won’t find elsewhere: major project scale, technical depth and long-term progression. You’ll also benefit from competitive pay, strong pension contributions, flexible hours, professional fee support and future opportunities across Assystem’s expanding UK portfolio.
Please note – we’re unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role, so applicants must have full right to work in the UK.
We are recruiting early-career construction-focused engineers looking to build their future in nuclear new build. This is hands-on engineering with real influence, not a desk-only position. These roles are site-based, five days a week at Hinkley Point C. If you are not local, you must be willing to relocate to the Bridgwater or Somerset area.
We are looking for early-career engineers who have:
- NVQ Level 4, HND or Degree in construction, mechanical or electrical engineering
- Understanding of CDM regulations and how they apply on site
- Experience working in construction or other heavy industrial environments
- Ability to read drawings or interpret technical documentation
- Awareness of installation methods, sequencing or construction processes
- Confidence working with contractors on live construction activities
- Comfortable using digital tools for reporting and coordination
- Willing to relocate if not within commuting distance of HPC
Due to project security requirements, unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Benefits include:
- Flexible working hours
- Pension scheme (8% company / 4% personal)
- 25 days’ paid annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy or sell days
- Professional fees reimbursed
- Employee referral scheme
