Job Description

Please note – we’re unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role, so applicants must have full right to work in the UK. This role supports a major UK nuclear construction programme and is based around delivery of complex reinforced concrete design and detailing. You will work closely with your future team of civil engineers, designers, and technical authorities across multiple buildings. The role focuses on design compliance, coordination, and technical assurance across the full detailing lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering input on building-specific reinforced concrete detailing issues
  • Coordinating with civil engineers to gather and validate detailing information
  • Reviewing and applying key design and project documentation
  • Tracking, managing, and closing technical open points and design changes
  • Supporting Minor Change Committee activities related to reinforcement updates
  • Reviewing Detailed Method Statements for technical consistency
  • Participating in resolution of complex reinforcement detailing challenges
  • Reviewing concrete outlines, pour models, and grid-line models
  • Responding to and tracking technical queries throughout the detailing phase
  • Coordinating and surveilling technical submissions and deliverables

Additional duties include supporting tender evaluations, preparing pre-job briefs, producing building-specific handover documentation, and ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, cost, and technical baseline.

Qualifications

Nuclear experience is welcomed but not essential. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us. We recognise that no candidate will meet every requirement. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng)

  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and RC detailing standards
  • Experience using ETC-C for reinforced concrete detailing
  • Understanding of BS 8666 reinforcement standards
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations
  • Experience with Revit, BIM standards, or Civil 3D advantageous
  • Nuclear sector experience desirable but not essential

Why Apply? This is a chance to work at the sharp end of UK nuclear delivery, tackling technically demanding reinforced concrete challenges with real national impact. You will develop rare, high-value expertise while working alongside experienced technical leaders on projects that define careers, not just job titles.
