Job Description
Working on a major Nuclear Power Plant project, the Senior Electrical Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance activities are performed in accordance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, applicable codes and standards, and nuclear quality expectations. The role supports the delivery of electrical systems across the project, ensuring compliance with the project's quality management system and maintaining the highest standards of nuclear safety culture. The successful candidate will provide technical quality leadership, conduct surveillance activities, manage quality documentation, and interface with contractors, suppliers, and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with project quality requirements, project quality standards, and applicable nuclear regulations. Verify that electrical works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and construction procedures. Support implementation and continual improvement of the Project Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and relevant nuclear quality assurance standards.
- Inspection & Surveillance: Conduct quality surveillance and inspections of electrical installation activities. Witness inspections, testing, and commissioning activities. Review and approve quality records, inspection reports, and test documentation. Verify completion of inspection and test plans and associated hold points. Monitor contractor compliance with approved quality arrangements.
- Non-Conformance Management: Raise, investigate, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. Monitor effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions. Identify quality trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Documentation & Records: Review electrical quality documentation packages for completeness and accuracy. Ensure traceability of materials, equipment, and installation records. Maintain auditable quality records in accordance with project requirements. Support final handover and lifetime quality records compilation.
- Supplier & Contractor Management: Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives. Participate in supplier audits and assessments where required. Review manufacturing and inspection documentation from suppliers. Ensure contractor quality plans align with project requirements.
- Leadership & Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Quality Engineers and Inspectors. Promote a strong nuclear safety and quality culture. Participate in project meetings, quality reviews, and management reporting. Support readiness reviews and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications
Essential: HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering. Recognised quality qualification or equivalent industry experience. CSWIP, PCN, CQI, IRCA, or similar quality-related certification desirable. Membership of a relevant professional institution (IET, CQI, etc.) desirable.
Desirable: Lead Auditor qualification. Nuclear industry quality training. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
Skills & Experience
Essential: Substantial experience in electrical engineering and quality assurance. Experience on major infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, defence, or nuclear projects. Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities. Experience managing quality documentation and inspection processes. Proven experience dealing with NCRs, corrective actions, and root cause investigations.
Desirable: Previous experience on nuclear new-build projects. Experience working within EDF, EPR, or regulated nuclear environments. Knowledge of RCC-E, IAEA standards, and nuclear quality requirements. Experience supporting construction and commissioning phases of large-scale projects.
