This role is ideally suited to candidates within commuting distance of Bridgwater or open to relocation support. You support operational nuclear safety activities throughout design, construction, commissioning, and operational preparation phases. You provide technical oversight, governance, and independent nuclear safety challenge across multidisciplinary project teams. You help embed strong nuclear safety culture standards aligned with UK regulatory expectations and best practices.

  • Support operational nuclear safety specifications through technical expertise and guidance
  • Oversee nuclear safety case implementation across critical project delivery activities
  • Provide technical advice regarding reactor physics, fuel management, and testing
  • Challenge technical decisions to prioritise nuclear safety and regulatory compliance
  • Support governance activities relating to nuclear safety processes and procedures
  • Participate within the Emergency Scheme supporting operational readiness arrangements
  • Influence multidisciplinary stakeholders regarding UK nuclear regulatory requirements differences
  • Support safeguards management and nuclear material accounting oversight activities
  • Assist evolving operational readiness activities during major project lifecycle transitions

Qualifications:

  • HND minimum qualification within science or engineering related discipline
  • Understanding of nuclear power operations and nuclear safety principles
  • Strong documentation skills supporting highly regulated technical project environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Ability to work effectively within deadlines and allocated project budgets
  • Understanding of nuclear safety regulations and compliance expectations
  • Ability providing independent technical challenge on complex engineering matters
  • Fluent English communication skills, with French language skills advantageous
  • Experience supporting nuclear operations, safety cases, or reactor physics activities
  • Ability to obtain Security Check level security clearance successfully
