**Job Description**

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work at our customer's site in Warrington on a contract basis. The Design Engineer is responsible for the creation of component/assembly designs and associated through life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes, ie life, cost availability and safety margins.

Role details:

  • Contract length: 12 months
  • Location: Warrington
  • Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To understand Product system / sub-system requirements and derive Component requirements at task level.
  • To produce robust design solutions which are insensitive to variation to address specified requirements.
  • To collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
  • To search for, capture, store, and re-use knowledge relating to design activity.
  • To understand and apply the commodity standards and to create new standards where none exist.
  • To liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to actively integrate the experience and knowledge from these areas.
  • To check own and others design solutions and technical for completeness and correctness.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
  • Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
  • Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards.
  • Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance/refit activities and dealing with operational issues.
  • Experience of Research and development, analytical and test verification activities.
  • Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
