Your future Team: You will be joining an Embedded Team as a Tooling Design Engineer / Senior Mechanical Designer. You will be responsible for performing full lifecycle engineering activities across a range of engineering projects which will form part of the submarine’s new build and development programmes.
Key Responsibilities:- Designing tooling, jigs fixtures and components that meet customer requirements
- Produce outline designs
- Identify, formulate, and produce solutions to emerging problems
- Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety
- Alter and modify design to meet customer requirements
- Estimate budget and scope of project
- Management of Risk and Opportunity
- Prepare product reports and documentation
- Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods

Experience in similar roles with specific emphasis (but not limited to) Valves, Pressure Vessel, Structural, Tooling or Lifting Equipment Design.Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.Understanding of relevant design codes and safety legislation.Ability to define budgets/work programmes for complete design project lifecycles e.g., requirements capture, concept design and detailed design.Knowledge of materials.Familiarity with 3D CAD systems (Siemens NX or similar).Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar).Please be aware that many roles at Assystem are subject to both security and export control restrictions. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
