The Job Mission
This hybrid role is based near Bridgwater, requiring regular site presence, with relocation support available. You will lead the definition and delivery of access control systems for a major nuclear project and will translate user requirements into technical specifications and manage supplier delivery.
- Develop access control system architecture based on user and business requirements
- Produce detailed technical specifications to support supplier tendering processes
- Engage stakeholders to capture requirements and ensure design alignment
- Oversee supplier design delivery ensuring compliance with technical specifications
- Manage design changes, risks and validation within controlled configuration environment
- Ensure integration of systems into wider building and infrastructure designs
- Review and approve technical documentation and system design deliverables
- Support installation readiness and ensure smooth transition to site teams
- Coordinate with programme teams to maintain delivery schedule and milestones
- Ensure systems meet operational, safety and security performance expectations
Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us. We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.
Experience with access control systems including:
- Cards, biometrics and identity verification
- Background delivering systems on large infrastructure or complex engineering projects
- Experience producing technical specifications and supporting tender processes
- Knowledge of system installation, commissioning and operational requirements
- Understanding of configuration control, design changes and validation processes
- Experience managing supplier or contractor technical delivery and performance
- Familiarity with integrated security or building systems across large facilities
- Ability to interpret and integrate system requirements into wider engineering designs
- Strong technical documentation skills including reports and specifications
- Experience with ASSA ABLOY systems or similar solutions beneficial
