We are expanding our radiological safety capability to support major programmes across Sellafield and the wider nuclear sector. You will act as a technical specialist leading radiological assessments, assuring safety case inputs and supporting critical decision making.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership in the development of Radiological Safety Assessments to ensure nuclear safety, legal compliance, effective operations and efficient project delivery across all lifecycle phases.
- Act as a consulted technical specialist, contributing to assurance processes, independent reviews and wider organisational decision-making relating to radiological and nuclear safety.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, including interactions with internal project teams, supply chain partners and regulators, building confidence in safety approaches and securing support for safety arguments where required.
- Promote continuous improvement by seeking and sharing learning within the safety discipline and across programmes.
- Conduct independent assurance checks on Safety Case development, validating technical methods, evidence bases and the strength of arguments relating to radiological risks.
- Maintain awareness of business drivers and programme context to ensure radiological safety approaches are aligned to strategic needs and proportionate to hazard.
- Support the development and optimisation of safety processes, methods and guidance, contributing to improved clarity, efficiency and technical robustness.
- Mentor and develop junior Assessors, supporting capability growth and a strong technical pipeline for future delivery.
- BSc in a science-based discipline / BEng in an engineering discipline (or a relevant Master’s degree).
- Strong experience in radiological safety within nuclear environments.
- Expertise in hazard analysis and safety justification.
- Experience engaging with regulators or licensees.
- Ability to operate as a technical authority.
