Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the Project Manager leads the full lifecycle delivery of assigned contracts or work packages. The role is responsible for planning and delivering engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities in line with project schedules and key safety, quality, time, and cost objectives. The position may oversee the design and construction of on- and off-site infrastructure, including park and ride facilities, rail works, accommodation campuses, temporary facilities and roads, utility networks (water, power, communications), and highway works delivered to adoptable standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Define the work scope to be delivered and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme. Embed the scope in the various governance documents and ensure consistency of scope description across documents.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager (SPM) and the Commercial team in the development of budgets for the works and the periodic reporting on those budgets.
  • Ensure schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work, maintaining consistency with overall Project schedules.
  • Coordinate with the Quality teams and identify, capture and implement Quality Management as per the management systems, specific attention to be given to off-site QM requirements.
  • Develop and implement the programme execution plan (PEP) and define the implementing strategies and plans to deliver the works and set out how the programme of work will be managed.
  • Assist in securing the required resources to meet the project requirements.
  • Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders.
  • Support the SPM, Commercial and Procurement teams in the development and implementation of Sourcing Strategies and the development tender documents.
  • Respond to tender queries and meet with suppliers if required and provide input to tender technical reviews.
  • Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements.
  • Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contact or package.
  • Provide written and oral reports and weekly and monthly reports to the SPM and engage with management for progress presentations.
  • Ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) relating to the scope of work is delivered.
  • Ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled, raise and manage non-conformance notices and manage remedial works.
