Assystem is an international engineering consultancy accelerating the global energy transition. Our 8000 Switchers combine decades of engineering and project delivery expertise with digital innovation to deliver complex, high-impact infrastructure. In the UK, we are deeply embedded in landmark nuclear programmes. Our teams support clients across the full project lifecycle, solving complex technical challenges in highly regulated environments.

You will be joining one of the two largest nuclear engineering companies in the world, working at the heart of the UK’s most significant energy programmes. Assystem offers long-term project stability, exposure to complex engineering challenges, and the opportunity to influence how major nuclear projects are delivered. Your future team values technical rigour, collaboration, and pragmatic problem-solving in highly regulated environments.

This is a hybrid role, with consideration given to candidates within commutable distance of the Sizewell C in Suffolk. You will lead configuration management across a major nuclear new build programme, shaping how technical baselines are defined, controlled and governed. Working across engineering, programme and supply chain teams, you will ensure configuration arrangements support effective decision-making and project delivery.

  • Deliver and integrate programme-specific Configuration Management Plans
  • Define, implement and improve CM standards, procedures and tools
  • Control configuration items and product configuration information consistently

  • Plan and perform configuration audits supporting governance requirements
  • Lead CM change control processes through governance to closure
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring on configuration management
  • Support data-centric configuration control across engineering datasets

Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us. We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) or equivalent industry experience.
  • CM certification (CM2) and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • Ability to define pragmatic, project-focused CM procedures
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation and processes
  • Experience coordinating cross-cutting technical topics
  • Excellent written communication and reporting skills
  • Understanding of large-scale infrastructure project delivery
  • In-depth knowledge of Configuration Management Standards including ISO 10007, EIA 649 and supporting guidance (e.g. GEIA-HB-649)

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in shaping how configuration management underpins one of the UK’s most important nuclear programmes. You will influence project outcomes, work with high-calibre engineers, and play a visible role in delivering nationally significant infrastructure while developing your own technical leadership.

Benefits include:

  • Hybrid Working Opportunity
  • Flexible working hours
  • Market Leading Pension scheme (8% company contribution / 4% personal contribution)
  • 25 days’ paid annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy or sell days
