As an IMS Auditor supporting a major nuclear project, you will provide independent, objective and evidence-based assurance on the adequacy, implementation and effectiveness of the projects Integrated Management System and associated governance, compliance and assurance arrangements. The role plans and delivers risk-based IMS audits, targeted and functional IMS audit activities, produces clear and well-written reports, verifies action close-out, and supports continual improvement across a fast-paced, highly regulated project environment. Reporting to the IMS Audits Manager, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, no direct line management responsibility, but significant influence across functional teams and project interfaces.
Roles & Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver a risk-based IMS Annual Audit Programme aligned with project priorities, certification requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Plan and conduct IMS audits and targeted interventions using interviews, document reviews, sampling, observation, and objective evidence testing.
- Evaluate whether IMS arrangements are understood, implemented, controlled, and effective across the organisation and key interfaces.
- Produce clear, concise audit reports covering scope, evidence, findings, risks, good practice, and improvement opportunities.
- Strengthen Root Cause Analysis (RCA) by ensuring audit actions are tracked to closure, with corrective actions verified as timely and effective.
- Identify trends, recurring issues, and systemic weaknesses, providing insight and analysis to support decision-making and organisational learning.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships while maintaining auditor independence and the confidence to challenge constructively.
- Support external audits, certification activities, and continuous improvement of the IMS, including development of the Annual Audit Programme.
- Good understanding of integrated management systems and standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 19443.
- Good working knowledge of ISO 19011 principles and modern audit practice.
- Strong IMS audit, assurance or oversight capability within a regulated environment.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex evidence into clear, balanced and defensible reports.
- Strong interviewing, questioning and listening skills, with the confidence to probe below the surface and test assumptions.
- Ability to analyse trends, assess significance and make evidence-based judgements.
- Credible stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence constructively without losing independence.
- Must be willing to commute to London 2-3 days per week.
- Working knowledge of nuclear governance, nuclear safety culture and major project assurance expectations.
- Experience of management of change, non-conformance, action tracking or organisational learning processes.
- Experience of using assurance data, dashboards or trend reporting to support management decision-making.
- Awareness of IAEA, ONR, Environment Agency or equivalent regulatory frameworks.
- Experience of working across complex interfaces with contractors, suppliers and delivery partners.
