About the Role
We are seeking a Remediation Consultant to join our team in Northwich due to continued growth and to expand our service offering in the remediation sector. This permanent role offers excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression for the right candidate. We’re looking for someone with approximately 3-6 years relevant experience who is a team player with drive, ambition and commitment to producing quality work.
You’ll work as part of an experienced team delivering specialist remediation consultancy services to a diverse range of clients, with projects primarily based in the North West and Midlands. The role offers excellent flexibility with typically 1‐2 days per week working from home, 1‐2 days on site, and 1‐2 days in the office (varying each week), with the ability to manage your own schedule to a good degree.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of projects moving into the Remedial Phase including maintaining a record of potential future works to keep track of and follow up on
- Assist in organising remedial works such as hotspot removal, tank removal, asbestos picking, soils/aggregate stockpile testing and management
- Complete and check Materials Management Plans, including liaising with clients and monitoring material movement/re‐use through project lifetime
- Help oversee ground gas protection systems and clean cover system validation, ensuring accurate record keeping and validation report completion
- Be the first point of call to organise and arrange remedial and earthworks supervision, developing client relationships
- Have input into Remedial Strategies and Earthworks Specifications, producing and checking documentation
- Drive and develop relationships with both existing and new clients, including assistance with marketing materials
- Assist in completion of RAMS/CPPs and gathering appropriate H&S documentation for upcoming remedial works
- Be familiar with relevant standards, guidance and legislative background to the geo‐environmental and geotechnical industry
- Help produce project fee proposals and tenders, especially for remedial and validation works
- Understand commercial aspects of business and take responsibility for project finances
- Attend meetings, site visits and site works as required
- Take an active approach towards training and mentoring junior staff
- Liaise and negotiate with regulators where required
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, suppliers and sub‐contractors
- Comply with internal policies, procedures and ISO standards
- Dependent on workload, you may also be required to help write desk‐based Phase I geo environmental assessment reports, interpretive reports, help check and approve work of junior staff, and help produce/check CAD drawings.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements
- Minimum undergraduate degree (BSc) in Geology, Environmental Science, Physical Geography or related subject
- Approximately 3-6 years relevant experience in the remediation sector (we welcome applications from candidates with slightly more or less experience)
- Full UK driving licence (manual transmission)
- Good IT skills and competent with MS Office
- Strong work ethic, able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
- Good problem‐solving skills with ability to adapt and find practical solutions
Desirable
- Experience in geotechnical or geo‐environmental consultancy, or background working as a remediation contractor
- Postgraduate degree or Masters in relevant subject
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Holebase
- Knowledge of remediation strategies and techniques
- Experience with verification of remediation works and preparation of verification reports
- Familiarity with earthworks, materials/waste management, and MMPs under CL:AIRE DoWCoP
- Experience liaising with regulators
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of £30,000 - £40,000+ dependent on experience and provide a comprehensive range of benefits including:
