What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead health and safety initiatives across council departments, services, and public-facing operations
- Champion wellbeing and safe working practices for staff, contractors, and the wider community
- Embed robust safety and risk frameworks that support organisational resilience and service delivery
- Drive cultural change—moving beyond compliance to proactive engagement and ownership of safety
- Harness data and digital tools to deliver smarter, more efficient safety solutions
- Support major transformation programmes and service redesigns with expert safety input
- Act as deputy to the Head of Safety and contribute to emergency planning and incident coordination
What You’ll Bring
- Holds Chartered IOSH status and/or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification)
- Has experience in complex, multi-service environments—ideally within local government or wider public sector
- Demonstrates a track record of developing forward-thinking policies and smarter ways of working
- Communicates effectively across all levels, from frontline teams to senior leadership
- Is passionate about making safety a strategic enabler of public service excellence
