Assured Safety Recruitment are exclusively partnering with a leading further education institution based in central London seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Health, Safety and Environment to lead its health, safety, and environmental agenda. About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Estates, you will lead a small, dedicated HSE team and work collaboratively across departments to embed a proactive safety culture. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing strategic HSE frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the trust's HSE strategy
- Oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation across estates and operations
- Manage and mentor a small HSE team, fostering professional growth and accountability
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are embedded
- Act as the competent person for HSE matters, liaising with external regulators and stakeholders
- Deliver regular reports and strategic insights to the executive team and board
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation in HSE practices
About You
- NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or equivalent) is essential
- Proven experience in a senior HSE role, ideally within housing, property, or construction sectors
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a small team
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence at all levels
- Excellent knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practice
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
