Interim Legal Counsel - Automotive Europe

The Opportunity
This role is a fixed term role of 3 or 4 months and is a discreet project role supporting the Automotive line of business and the Legal team.
The incumbent lawyer supporting UK Auto has recently left the business. That lawyer was a single point of knowledge in the UK Automotive line of business resulting in the current Legal team being challenged to support the area with insufficient time to devote to understanding the products, clients, contracts, templates, risks etc. This will be equally so for a permanent replacement.
The UK automotive market provides primarily extended warranty products, but also insurance and service contracts. There is planned expansion of automotive products and distribution into wider European markets over the next 1+ years.
The role requires a pragmatic, commercially focused project approach to understanding the UK Automotive line of business as a whole including but not limited to products (regulated and non regulated), clients, contracts, templates, risks to produce a "playbook" guide to assist the existing lawyers to support that area and the new permanent replacement once successful recruitment has occurred.
Day to day activities will include but are not limited to research and investigatory sessions with the UK Automotive team and the Legal team, review of contracts and templates, production of a "playbook" of best practice up to date documents in a central location, liaising with external counsel where required
Responsibilities
- Investigative sessions with the UK Automotive line of business and Legal Team (25%)
- Review of existing products and legal documents (25%)
- Creation of a Playbook to ensure seamless future legal support (25%)
- Creation of updated best practice legal documents (25%)
