As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of our retail and e-commerce operations in-store, ensuring an exceptional customer experience while driving commercial performance and profitability. You will inspire and develop a high-performing team, oversee inventory and visual merchandising standards, manage local marketing initiatives and community events, and act as a brand ambassador within the cycling community. This role requires a commercially minded and hands-on leader with a passion for cycling, strong organizational skills, and the ability to create a premium retail environment that reflects our brand values and delivers sustainable business growth.
A key focus of the role will be building, developing, and leading an exceptional retail sales team that consistently delivers outstanding customer experiences and commercial results. You will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, ensuring every team member is empowered to reach their full potential. In addition, you will take ownership of an upcoming store refit and refresh project, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a revitalized retail environment that enhances the customer journey, strengthens brand presentation, and supports future growth.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Store Operations Management
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the store
- Monitor and optimize workflow and processes
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards
- Ensure Health and Safety policies are in place alongside local government compliance
- E-com management and all functions
- Track and report critical KPI’s
- Introduce SOPs and a team skills matrix
- Sales and Customer Service
- Drive sales and meet or exceed revenue targets
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve complaints
- Train staff in sales techniques and customer engagement
- Team Leadership and Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff
- Schedule work shifts and manage team performance
- Foster a positive and productive team environment
- Visual Merchandising and Product Presentation
- Oversee product display and ensure it aligns with brand standards
- Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing
- Implement promotional displays and seasonal layouts
- Inventory and Stock Control
- Manage inventory levels and restocking processes
- Conduct regular stock checks and reduce shrinkage
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams
- Financial Responsibilities
- Monitor budgets, sales reports, and profitability
- Control operational costs and ensure financial efficiency
- Manage store cash flow and reconcile daily takings
- Marketing, Events and Customer Engagement
- Plan and execute local marketing initiatives and local events
- Create and deliver an annual calendar of bike rides
- Maintain and grow a loyal customer base
- Handle social media updates
- Take ownership of growing our ASSOS community in London further
- Reporting and Communication
- Provide regular performance reports to regional or head office
- Communicate company updates and goals to the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments (e.g., HR, marketing, planning and E-commerce)
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Retail Manager / Sales Manager
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing and leading a retail team
- Strong commercial acumen with solid Excel and general computer literacy
- Ability to prioritise, delegate, and manage multiple workstreams effectively
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Entrepreneurial mindset with willingness to take initiative
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a track record of building relationships and fostering positive workplace culture
- Strong organizational skills with a priority-setting approach
- Ability to work weekends and occasional travel as required
- A genuine passion for cycling and understanding of what motivates cyclists
