Part Time Bosun - Discovery Sailing Project
Universal Marina - to £250 per day - dependent upon experience
The Discovery Sailing Project http://www.dsp.uk.com is a Sail Training Charity which is part of the Scout Association. We enable young people from all walks of life to experience and benefit from Offshore Sailing. We operate three yachts from our base: DSP HQ, Universal Marina, on the River Hamble.
We have three vessels:
Thermopylae Clipper, 60'
Discovery DSP, 43'
About the Role
This is a part time role, circa 20 hours/week. We seek an individual with a hands‑on operational focus, NOT a manager to direct and lead others. We need a "do-er".
This is a unique, exciting, engaging and fulfilling role where the main requirement is to ensure our vessels are ready for sea, enabling young people to partake in lifechanging experiences through the power of Sail Training.
Skills Required
- Experienced in maintaining yachts and their systems, including but not limited to:
- o Engines
- o 12 / 24v systems
- o Pumps and plumbing
- o Woodwork
- o GRP
- Able to work to deadlines and budgets - as a charity with limited funds our yachts must be fit for purpose, but not necessarily pristine.
- Private Indemnity Insurance
- Candidates must have, or be willing to take out, Private Indemnity Insurance.
