Role Overview
Pet Welfare Assistant on site in our Hertfordshire rehoming and fostering team. Responsible for caring for, assessing, and rehabilitating pets prior to adoption, ensuring welfare standards, coordinating with owners and adopters, and maintaining documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and support for pets in accommodation.
- Carry out behavioural and veterinary assessments, develop rehabilitation plans.
- Prepare pets for adoption stage, including paperwork, health checks and behavioural evaluation.
- Provide information and advice to prospective and new owners, including virtual or in‑person demonstrations.
- Complete and record all welfare, assessment and adoption documentation.
- Work independently and with team members, including weekends and occasional overnight shifts.
- Meet safety and health protocols, manage cash handling and safeguarding issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience or volunteering with domestic animals or in an animal welfare setting.
- Customer‑focused service experience with strong communication skills.
- Good organisational and administrative skills, including computerised systems.
- Current full driving licence.
- Experience of cash handling (nice to have).
- Experience with health and safety procedures (nice to have).
- Understanding of safeguarding (nice to have).
- Qualification or similar experience in animal behaviour or training (nice to have).
