Sandwell Council’s Democratic Services Division is seeking a professional, collaborative and highly organised individual to join the team as a Civic Office and Events Support Officer. This is a key role providing high‑quality, flexible support to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Elected Members, and contributing to the delivery of prestigious, well‑run civic functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing confidential, professional and proactive support to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Elected Members.
- Leading and coordinating the day‑to‑day operation of the Civic Office, including line management of support staff.
- Planning, organising and delivering high‑profile civic events, engagements and visits.
- Preparing speeches, briefings, correspondence and weekly engagement schedules to a high standard.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
- Confidence in working with senior stakeholders, elected Members and partners.
- Tact, diplomacy and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
