An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Association of Colleges (AoC) as a Technical and Vocational Advisor within our new Technical and Vocational Professional Development (TVPD) programme. The TVPD programme is an externally funded programme delivered by AoC on behalf of the Department for Education. It supports the further education sector with technical and vocational professional development, including activity linked to TVE Hubs, provider engagement, regional networks, employer collaboration and evidence-informed practice.
This is a key role supporting post-16 providers to effectively implement technical and vocational qualifications. Working as part of a national team, you will provide advice, guidance, challenge and support to senior leaders, helping providers to plan, implement and strengthen post-16 pathways within their institutions.
As a Technical and Vocational Advisor, you will manage a regional caseload of providers, acting as a named point of contact and building strong relationships through both virtual and in-person engagement. You will monitor provider engagement and delivery against programme objectives and KPIs, support appropriate escalation and follow-up, and help ensure that good practice, learning and intelligence are shared across the sector to maximise impact.
You will also support TVE Hub activity, facilitate collaboration between providers, employers and partners, contribute to provider networks and events, and gather insight to inform programme development and continuous improvement. The role will involve producing clear records, reports, case studies and learning summaries to support effective programme monitoring and evaluation.
We are looking for someone with relevant experience working within the further education and skills sector at operational management level, alongside a strong understanding of technical and vocational education pathways and qualification reform. You will be confident working with providers, building credibility with senior stakeholders, and providing constructive support and challenge.
You will be organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities while delivering activity to agreed deadlines and KPIs. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to facilitate networks, lead discussions, encourage collaboration and use qualitative and quantitative information to support improvement.
Experience of supporting providers through educational change activity, facilitating networks or workshops, working with senior stakeholders, and contributing to programme delivery or reporting would be beneficial. This is a permanent role, available on either a full-time or part-time basis. Full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week. We have five vacancies available. The role is mobile-hybrid and will operate from a home base, with occasional travel required to attend meetings, events, regional TVE Hubs, provider visits, or AoC meetings and events where required.
