Some leadership roles are about optimising what already exists. This one is about rebuilding it entirely. At BFS, we are redesigning how transformation works from how ideas are prioritised, how teams deliver and how benefits are realised across the business. You will help design it, lead it and own it.

This is Transformation 5.0: a best-in-class digital transformation programme, a major priority for the business, fully backed by mandate, budget and executive sponsorship.

The role

BFS is moving away from fragmented delivery and traditional governance, towards a model that is genuinely Agile, outcome-focused and value-led. This role sits at the centre of that shift. This role will strongly appeal to someone with a consulting background. Someone who has worked across multiple projects, clients and operating models, who enjoys bringing structure, pace and clarity into complex environments.

You will get the chance to:

  • Completely rebuild how transformation is delivered at BFS
  • Shape the mandate, governance, budget and operating rhythm of the transformation portfolio
  • Design and grow a high-performing delivery team of Scrum Masters, PMs and BAs
  • Have a massive impact on both culture and commercial outcomes
  • Work closely with international teams, aligning delivery across geographies
  • Take ownership of a role that is truly yours to shape

For people who like building things from scratch, this is a rare and genuine opportunity.

What you will be doing

You will be accountable for how BFS delivers its transformation agenda end to end.

  • Own the portfolio of transformation activity, typically spanning 10-15 concurrent initiatives
  • Ensure value teams are delivering against clear outcomes
  • Manage programme-level risks, dependencies and trade-offs across the portfolio
  • Redesign and embed portfolio governance that enables speed, not bureaucracy
  • Establish and lead Agile delivery practices, including PI planning and portfolio-level cadence
  • Create a common language for Agile across BFS, supported by coaching and training
  • Act as an Agile coach to leaders and delivery teams
  • Work closely with Finance to manage budgets, investment decisions and financial governance
  • Define, track and communicate the benefits being realised from delivery teams
  • Ensure change is embedded, adopted and sustained within BAU

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will need strong people skills, comfort operating at pace and the willingness to roll your sleeves up when needed.

What you will bring

  • You will be an experienced transformation leader with a proven track record of delivering complex portfolios in evolving organisations.
  • Proven leadership in portfolio and programme delivery, including benefits tracking, business case development, prioritisation, budget and risk management
  • Deep expertise in Agile delivery, PI planning and change management frameworks
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to translate vision into executable delivery plans
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, including ELT engagement
  • Experience coaching teams and building delivery capability
  • A collaborative, consultative leadership style with high personal credibility

The good stuff

  • £95-105K salary + Car allowance (£7, performance bonus (up to 30%)
  • It is digital and technology-led, using modern platforms and tools
  • You will build new portfolio and delivery frameworks that genuinely support Agile teams
  • You will have real ownership: this is not a role you inherit, it is one you define
  • You will gain exposure, learning and leadership experience that is hard to replicate elsewhere
  • You will work in a business that is truly bought into change, not paying lip service to it
  • Private healthcare for you and your family
  • Company pension scheme
  • Flexible benefits (gym membership, tech, health assessments and more)
  • Access to an online wellbeing centre
  • Discounts with a wide range of retailers
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service, with buy/sell options
  • Electric Vehicle / Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle scheme
