Working as part of a small team, the Education Partnerships and Projects Manager will develop and nurture strategic relationships with schools, Multi Academy Trusts (MATs), initial teacher education (ITE) providers, and key sector bodies to advance ACT's mission. Drawing on direct classroom and leadership experience, this role will champion Citizenship education as a catalyst for school improvement, deliver project‑based initiatives, drive membership growth, and build a thriving community of best practice in Citizenship teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and sustain strategic partnerships with MATs, schools, and education networks to support the development of the ACT teaching community to promote and support high quality Citizenship education with new and existing ACT school members within the primary and secondary phases.
- Support school and MAT members with the development and use of ACT’s Citizenship self‑evaluation and curriculum improvement tools, model core curriculum, guidance and pedagogical approaches and other products developed over time.
- Present and assist with the delivery of training and events, both in person and online to support high‑quality Citizenship.
- Build and sustain alliances with Citizenship ITE course providers, teaching/subject associations, and key education and third‑sector bodies.
- Think strategically to identify and attract new opportunities for ACT to grow its membership reach and impact with teachers, school leaders and MATs.
- Engage, grow, coordinate and support ACT’s network of specialist Teaching Ambassadors across primary, secondary and post‑16 settings to share best practice and advance the teaching of the subject.
- Represent ACT at external meetings, conferences, and sector events.
- Work collaboratively across the team to manage end‑to‑end delivery of funded projects, coordinate resources effectively, and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
- Have a sound understanding of the policy landscape, primary and secondary National Curriculum Citizenship, GCSE Citizenship, enrichment and the role of Citizenship in whole‑school improvement.
- Provide exemplary customer service to all prospective and current members.
- Provide support across the small staff team as required, contributing to shared goals and working collaboratively.
Working Hours
21 hours per week (excluding lunchtime). Core office hours are between 08:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, with some out of hours work required. There will be some travel within the UK.
Place of Work
Hybrid within the office and home‑based. Attendance in the ACT central London office a minimum of 1-2 times per month is required.
Contract Type
Part time, 12-month fixed term contract.
Holiday Entitlement
Holiday entitlement is pro‑rata, based on a full‑time equivalent of 25 days + bank holidays, adjusted to your contracted hours.
Pension
6% employer contribution to NEST.
