The Friends of Abingdon Abbey Buildings Trust is seeking an experienced and collaborative Creative Lead (Visual Arts) to help shape and deliver the visual arts strand of its Community Arts Programme. This freelance commission forms part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported restoration of the historic Abbey Buildings in Abingdon-on-Thames.
Working with schools, community groups, volunteers and local partners, the successful practitioner will lead participatory visual arts activity that supports people to explore and respond to the heritage and stories of the Abbey Buildings.
Key activities include Hereβs the Hoardings, an intergenerational public arts project, and Art at the Abbey, a programme of arts-based workshops and activities for schools.
We are particularly interested in hearing from practitioners with experience of community engagement, participatory arts practice, co-creation and collaborative working.
Commission budget: up to Β£12,000 excluding VAT.
