Within Cloud Operations, we are committed to continually improving the services offered to our customers. As a result, we are looking for a Senior Cloud Architect to join our team.

As a Senior Cloud Architect, your responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with business-focused development teams to design cloud solutions, primarily within AWS.
• Finding approaches that enable rapid adoption of new cloud services, drive transformation, and transform IT.
• Ensuring high‑quality delivery output within the R&D Cloud Operations business.
• Providing support for pre‑sales technical activities as well as engagement with customers.
• Overseeing DevOps engineers, junior cloud architects, and test automation engineers, acting as an interface and key delegation point both internally and across the wider engineering practice.

You’ll Make An Impact By:

• Creating, maintaining, and delivering cloud architecture and solutions.
• Designing and implementing state‑of‑the‑art cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions aligned with our business goals and requirements.
• Driving ongoing improvements in the performance, stability, and responsiveness of our cloud environment.
• Championing world‑class cloud operations by integrating Siemens code of practice.
• Designing secure services and ensuring consistent adherence to security and vulnerability standards.
• Leading system architecture from project inception through delivery.

Supporting the technical roadmap:

• Supervising technical architectural and engineering resources within projects, ensuring alignment with our strategic roadmap.

Ensuring solution and architectural quality:

• Conducting quality reviews of automation scripts and tools to ensure compliance with DevOps best practices.
• Partnering with project and program managers to drive solution delivery.
• Acting as the primary interface to the business to ensure successful solution adoption.

This Is How You’ll Win Us Over:

Education: You hold a university degree, ideally in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related field, along with extensive professional experience. Alternatively, 6+ years of relevant professional experience will also be considered.

Experience & Skills:

• Comprehensive knowledge of software analysis and design methodologies, particularly for AWS cloud solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with Red Hat OpenShift.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud infrastructure (e.g., Terraform).
• Deep expertise in AWS services and their practical application, including certification as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
• Strong experience implementing cloud security best practices.
• Extensive experience in enterprise architecture definition, solution design, and deployment.
• Solid knowledge of REST APIs, API security, OAuth, SSO, microservices, and micro front‑end architectures.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD, automation, and configuration management.
• Programming proficiency in at least one of the following: Python, Bash, Go, Java, or PowerShell.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and both relational and NoSQL databases.

Ways of working: Analytical and solution‑oriented mindset with strong decision‑making capabilities and a growth mindset. This role includes participation in scheduled on‑call rotations outside regular working hours.

Languages: Excellent communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to present to large audiences and clearly explain complex topics.
