Salary & Benefits: Competitive depending on experience

About the Role

We are looking for a Process Development Technologist to join our NPD team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about food and interested in developing products from the initial concept through to factory production. Working closely with our Commercial, Technical, Operations and Finance teams, you will support new product development and existing product improvement projects, helping to ensure products are developed efficiently, safely, legally and to the quality standards expected by our business and customers.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in food manufacturing, QA, or technical roles who is looking to broaden their scope and progress into a hands-on process development and NPD position.

This is a varied, practical role offering excellent exposure, responsibility, and the opportunity to build your capability and career in NPD.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development of new product ideas and concepts.
  • Preparing, cooking and tasting products as part of the development process.
  • Developing and testing recipes and processes.
  • Preparing product samples for internal review, customers and senior management.
  • Supporting maintenance of accurate records of samples and development projects.
  • Organising sample distribution and couriers where required.
  • Assisting in organising, running and documenting factory trials.
  • Working with Operations and Technical to support the successful introduction of products into the factory.
  • Collecting and providing trial data to support production planning and accurate costings.
  • Completing NPD specifications and supporting the development and maintenance of Product Quality Standards (QAS).
  • Supporting improvements and changes to existing products.
  • Ensuring product changes are accurately recorded and communicated across the business.
  • Maintaining the NPD kitchen to a safe, clean and effective standard.
  • Maintaining appropriate stocks of ingredients for product development and trials.
  • Working with ingredient and packaging suppliers alongside Technical and Purchasing.
  • Supporting customer and senior management sample presentations when required.
  • Following all food safety and allergen management procedures, including the requirements of our nut-free site.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about food and interested in food production and product development.
  • Creative and able to contribute new ideas and concepts.
  • Enthusiastic, curious and keen to learn.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to manage their own time and use initiative.
  • A good communicator who can work effectively with different departments.
  • Comfortable working in a practical food development environment.
  • Interested in food trends, new ingredients and changing customer expectations.
  • Computer literate, with experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with food safety requirements, including Food Hygiene and HACCP.

Previous experience in food production or product development would be advantageous, although we would also welcome applications from candidates with a strong interest in developing a career within food development.

You will need to be comfortable working collaboratively across different areas of the business and able to balance creativity with a practical, measured approach to product and process development.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to be involved in the full product development journey – from initial concept and sample preparation through to factory trials and full-scale production.
