Role Overview

Join our dynamic engineering team at Associated Seafoods as a Multiskilled Engineer. In this critical role, you will bring together your expertise in both mechanical and electrical engineering to support our fast-paced food production environment.

You will be instrumental in keeping our site running safely and efficiently, ensuring maximum equipment availability, optimising peak performance, and driving continuous improvement across the site. If you have a background in food production maintenance, thrive on problem-solving, and are ready to take on diverse, hands‑on responsibilities, we want you to help drive our operational success.

Main Responsibilities

  • Respond rapidly to breakdown repairs, implement effective long‑term solutions, and carry out scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on a wide variety of equipment.
  • Upgrade and improve site machinery and services to enhance overall operational efficiency and throughput.
  • Routinely monitor, test, and adjust various mechanical and electrical systems across the site to ensure optimal performance.
  • Actively participate in, and occasionally lead, Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to drive manufacturing excellence and reduce downtime.
  • Undertake the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment, utilising your dual electrical and mechanical skill sets.
  • Uphold and continually enhance site engineering standards to meet the evolving technical and compliance needs of the production environment.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Supervisor and wider production teams to effectively support daily operations and minimise disruptions.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • A time‑served engineering apprenticeship with a formal electrical or mechanical qualification.
  • Proven experience within a fast-paced food manufacturing or processing environment, including a strong understanding of food safety principles, GMP, and food‑safe maintenance practices.
  • Methodical fault‑finding and troubleshooting abilities, with the agility to adapt to urgent production demands.
  • Strong creative problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Self‑motivated and highly organised, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non‑technical staff.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of work and safety.

Working Hours/Flexibility

The contractual working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Due to the nature of our operations, flexibility in start and finish times will be required to successfully accommodate project installations, maintenance deadlines, and critical business requirements.
