About The Role: We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Internal Auditor with a proactive approach to compliance, auditing, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will support the business in maintaining the highest standards of food safety, legality, and quality by conducting internal audits across all sites. You will play a key role in ensuring audit readiness, identifying risks, and supporting teams to drive improvements and maintain compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, conduct, and report internal audits across all sites, covering systems, processes, GMP, factory production and environment across all company sites, ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and legal standards.
- Assess compliance with BRC standards, legal requirements and internal procedures.
- Demonstrate compliance to external auditors regarding internal audits.
- Support sites in preparation for external and customer audits.
- Ensure the successful operation of HACCP and allergen control systems through effective auditing.
- Travel regularly to Buckie, Arbroath, and other aquaculture sites as required.
- Coach and support teams on food safety standards and audit expectations.
- Promote a strong food safety culture and ownership at all levels of the business.
- Provide guidance to teams on maintaining compliance and audit readiness.
- Monitor, track and verify the close-out of audit non-conformances.
- Ensure corrective and preventative actions are effective and sustainable.
- Escalate recurring or high-risk issues appropriately to the Head of Technical.
- Support thorough root cause analysis for non-conformances.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
- Support implementation improvement initiatives across all sites.
- Produce clear, timely and accurate audit reports.
- Maintain audit schedules, records, and documentation in line with company and certification requirements.
- Provide regular updates to the Head of Technical.
About You:
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Confident working independently and managing their own workload.
- A strong communicator, able to influence and challenge constructively.
- Collaborative approach with ability to build strong working relationships across sites and functions.
- Analytical, with effective problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Proactive, with a solutions-focused mindset.
- Demonstrating accountability and ownership by taking responsibility for audit outcomes and ensuring actions are followed through.
- Comfortable working across multiple sites in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications you will ideally bring:
- Strong working knowledge of BRC Food Safety Standards.
- Internal Auditor qualification/training.
- Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 3.
- Experience of working within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of retailer standards (e.g. M&S, FSSC) (desirable).
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid role with flexibility to work remotely when not on-site.
- Regular travel to Buckie, Arbroath, and other company/aquaculture sites.
- Occasional flexibility in working hours to support audit schedules.
