Location: Arbroath

Salary: Competitive, depending on entry level skills and experience

Hours: 40 hours per week with flexibility required, working Monday to Friday from 04:30 to 13:00

About The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up mixing equipment before production starts and ensuring machinery is clean and ready for use.
  • Completing start-up checks and production paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Operating, stripping down and rebuilding mixing machinery safely and in accordance with procedures.
  • Following approved recipes, work instructions and SOPs.
  • Weighing and handling ingredients accurately.
  • Completing pH testing of relevant mixes and escalating any failed or out-of-specification results promptly.
  • Maintaining strict allergen controls and preventing cross-contamination.
  • Completing required checks including weight control, CCP checks, label checks, date verification and temperature checks.
  • Ensuring production records and food safety documentation are completed accurately.
  • Working with Stock Operatives to ensure ingredients are available when needed.
  • Supporting the achievement of production throughput requirements while minimising waste.
  • Reporting equipment faults, hazards, quality issues and process concerns promptly.
  • Supporting Line Leaders and Supervisors as required.
  • Working effectively with colleagues across Production and other departments.
  • Supporting the training of new starters and colleagues where required.
  • Working flexibly across production areas where trained.
  • Supporting customer and external audits when required.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety, GMP and health and safety at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, organised and able to work effectively in a busy production environment.
  • Comfortable following detailed recipes, instructions and procedures.
  • Numerate and able to complete accurate checks and records.
  • A good communicator and team player.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.
  • Safety-conscious and willing to follow all required health and safety procedures.
  • Detail-focused, particularly when handling ingredients and completing checks.
  • Flexible and willing to support different areas of production when trained.
  • Positive, professional and willing to support colleagues and new starters.

Previous experience in food manufacturing, production, food preparation or mixing would be advantageous, although relevant training and support will be provided. Knowledge or experience of Food Hygiene, HACCP/CCP controls, allergen awareness, Listeria awareness and health and safety would be beneficial.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and motivated individual to develop their experience in a busy food manufacturing environment while contributing directly to the safe and efficient production of high-quality food products.
