About The Role
Are you looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment?
We are seeking a Kilns Operative to support the cooking and smoking of our products to the highest standards.
You will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating all cooking and smoking processes to ensure food safety, consistent product quality, and efficient throughput.
This role is crucial in maintaining production schedules, yields, and compliance with internal and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage cooking and smoking processes to meet CCP and product quality requirements.
- Load and unload kilns safely and efficiently.
- Ensure smoking is consistent and evenly applied across all batches.
- Adjust cooking and smoking plans in coordination with the Planning team to maintain throughput.
- Review and improve cooking and smoking yields to meet agreed standards.
- Maintain food safety and allergen control at all times.
- Complete all required records and shift reports accurately and on time.
- Support internal and customer audits as required.
- Ensure integrity, traceability, and compliance with company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Follow All Company Policies And Behavioural Safety Requirements
- Report hazards or process issues promptly to your line manager.
- Carry out manual handling safely and follow relevant safety guidance.
- Work effectively as part of a small, collaborative team.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, planning, and stock teams.
- Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work unsupervised.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, methodical, and safety-conscious, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. You will ideally have:
- Good time management and prioritisation skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of CCPs and allergen management
- Strong work ethic with a desire to learn and grow.
- Integrity and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work night shifts in a small team
- Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions within the role
- Good timekeeping skills
- Solid understanding of Food safety legislation (Elementary Food Hygiene and Elementary HACCP Course complete)
- Awareness of behavioural safety and food safety requirements
- Previous experience in food manufacturing, production, stock control, kiln operations or a similar environment would be advantageous. An understanding of
GMP, HACCP, allergen control, traceability and food safety procedures would also be beneficial.
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
