Job Overview: We are looking for a hands-on Hygiene Team Leader to support the delivery of exceptional hygiene standards across our fresh, smoked and ready-to-eat fish production areas. This is a key operational role responsible for leading and working alongside the hygiene team to ensure our site consistently meets and exceeds legal, customer and company standards. You will play a critical part in protecting product integrity, supporting audit readiness, driving performance, and promoting a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety and customer standards.
- Report hazards and support investigations where required.
- Ensure safe handling, storage and documentation of cleaning chemicals.
- Lead, motivate, support and allocate tasks to the Hygiene Operatives.
- Monitor completion of cleaning activities to required standards.
- Promote a positive team culture and lead performance effectively.
- Work hands-on alongside the team during cleaning operations.
- Support training and development of team members.
- Conduct visual checks and support microbiological and audit activities.
- Ensure all cleaning documentation is completed accurately.
- Take or escape corrective action where standards are not met.
- Resolve shift issues and communicate effectively with relevant departments.
About You: We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience leading teams within a food manufacturing hygiene environment (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of hygiene systems and cleaning methodologies.
- Understanding of high-care food production standards.
- Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong work ethic with a desire to learn and grow.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH and chemical handling.
- A clear communicator who can work collaboratively across teams, both internal and external.
- Effective communication and people management skills.
- Proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Good time management and reliability.
- Enthusiastic attitude and ability to take initiative.
- Solid understanding of Food safety legislation (Elementary Food Hygiene and Elementary HACCP Course complete).
- Previous experience as a Team Leader or in a supervisory role is desirable but not essential.
